Earlier today, I had French bread in my bed…well at least the dough anyway.
Other days we have Italian, Irish soda, or Indian flat breads under our covers.
I know it sounds strange, but under our comforter and blankets is the warmest place in the house. So whenever it’s time to let the bread rise, I just cover the bowl with plastic and then a towel. Then I put it to bed under our nice warm covers and let it rest and double in bulk. It may sound odd to have dough in your bread, but hey…it works.
This French bread recipe is very simple but it makes two wonderful loaves.
Thanks to my Mom for the beautiful bread basket and liners she made me and also to my Dad for the wooden base that he made for the basket!
Note: I have no idea where I got the recipe. It’s been in my box for about 20 years or so…it’s one of my hand-written recipes on an index card. I can’t remember if I adapted the recipe or not, nor do I remember where I might have gotten it from.
